Israel election too close to call as exit polls give Netanyahu bloc slightly fewer seats

5 days 3 hours ago

Early indications suggest it will be some time before the shape of new government and who will lead it is clear

Israel’s election appeared to have delivered no clear winner on Tuesday night after a historic turnout by voters for an election described by some as the most consequential in the country’s history, and marked by a record participation by Israeli Arab voters.

Exit polls published on Tuesday evening suggested that the opposition bloc of parties led by the former chief of staff of the Israel Defense Forces, Gadi Eisenkot, would win most seats in the Knesset by a slight margin, edging out Benjamin Netanyahu’s right and far-right coalition despite the prime minister’s Likud emerging as the largest party.

Top 5 ASX Gold Stocks in 2026

5 days 3 hours ago
The gold price may have receded from the new all-time high above AU$6,860.28 per ounce set in Q1, but the yellow metal was still trading at historic highs in the third quarter. The gold bull market has been well-supported by a number of factors. Among them is the pervading geopolitical turmoil and global economic uncertainty driving elevated institutional and central bank gold buying. The high gold price has boosted margins for gold producers, and investment in the sector has increased over the course of the year, pushing up share prices and interest in gold equities. How has this bull market affected ASX-listed gold stocks?Read on to discover which Australian gold companies have seen the biggest gains so far in 2026.Data for this article was retrieved on October 21, 2026, using TradingView's stock screener, and only companies with market capitalisations greater than AU$10 million at that time were considered. 1. King River Resources (ASX:KRR) Year-to-date gain: 283.33 percentMarket cap: AU$73.35 millionShare price: AU$0.046King River Resources is a gold exploration company with projects in Western Australia and the Northern Territory. Its portfolio includes the Mindoolah gold project in Western Australia’s Murchison province, the Mount Remarkable gold project in the East Kimberley region and the Tennant Creek gold-copper project in the Northern Territory.King River announced it had secured an option to acquire the Mindoolah project on February 17, and exercised the option on March 24, giving it ownership of the project. The project was historically mined at an average grade of 19.02 grams per tonne (g/t) gold for about 5,700 ounces, and King River said it offered potential for shallow unmined intercepts and underexplored areas.Through the middle of the year, it completed geophysical surveys and field mapping that defined new gold targets at the project. On May 18, the company reported that property surveys verified the presence of large-scale stockpiles of material it would begin testing. It also found a discrepancy between government ore production records and excavated mineral volumes that could indicate stockpiled, unprocessed mineralised material on site. King River's shares saw significant support when it announced plans for a high-resolution drone aeromagnetic survey at Mindoolah on June 17, and they got another large boost on August 11, when the company released the results. The survey outlined four priority gold targets, including potential structural intersections outside the historical workings' footprint. The company said the results suggest Mindoolah’s known gold occurrences form part of a broader system. Then, on September 1, it reported mapping and sampling results across five prospects at Mindoolah, outlining three distinct styles of gold mineralisation and a pipeline of drill-ready targets. Rock chip samples from the Bertram’s prospect returned grades of up to 44.3 g/t gold, while samples from the Le Soleil prospect returned up to 16.95 g/t gold. The company reported results from its Phase 1 reverse circulation drill program on October 5, noting that 15 of 19 holes in the program intersected near-surface gold mineralisation. Results from the Bertram’s prospect included 12 metres grading 1.1 g/t gold from 35 metres, while another hole returned 1 metre grading 13.59 g/t gold from 43 metres.King River has since begun its Phase 2 drill program at Mindoolah, which it announced on October 12. The 11,082 metre program will focus on its growth targets, such as Excelsior, and follow up on Phase 1 results.Shares in King River Resources reached a year-to-date high of AU$0.095 on August 13. 2. Recharge Metals (ASX:REC) Year-to-date gain: 204.55 percentMarket cap: AU$41.43 millionShare price: AU$0.037Recharge Metals is an exploration company focused on advancing its flagship Sunset Well gold project in Western Australia’s Eastern Goldfields, about 10 kilometres east of Leonora. The company acquired Sunset Well earlier this year in a deal announced on February 20 and completed on April 7. The project covers more than 180 square kilometres and hosts three gold trends identified during drilling in the 1990s: the Prospero, Flanders and Portia shear zones.Prospero, which has seen the most exploration of the three trends, hosts a near-surface inferred mineral resource of 94,500 ounces of gold within 2.87 million tonnes grading 1 g/t gold. The deposit remains open along strike and at depth, with only three historical holes drilled below 100 metres vertical depth.Recharge expanded the project on July 13, announcing it would acquire the neighbouring Ironstone Well project for AU$100,000 cash. The deal extended the company’s control of the Prospero trend by 50 percent to more than 15 kilometres, and added 4 kilometres of the Portia gold trend. Ironstone Well’s three mining leases also hold around 450 historical drill holes along the Prospero trend, with little exploration completed over the last two decades. On August 17, the company announced that a heritage survey of Sunset Well would begin in late August, the final key step ahead of its maiden 30,000 metre drill program targeting the Prospero deposit. Recharge announced the survey's completion on August 31, and the program, expected to start in the fourth quarter, will be the first exploration drilling at Prospero since the mid-1990s. The company awarded a drilling contract for the program on September 22.In addition to preparing for exploration activities, Recharge announced on October 15 that it had received firm commitments for an AU$4.1 million placement to fund the drill program, as well as work at its Brandy Hill copper-tungsten project. The placement, which brings Recharge’s pro-forma cash balance to AU$8 million, was completed on October 22.That same day, the company announced the launch of Phase 1 of its maiden drill program.Shares in Recharge reached a year-to-date high of AU$0.044 on October 9. 3. Dalaroo Metals (ASX:DAL) Year-to-date gain: 200 percentMarket cap: AU$50.43 millionShare price: AU$0.12Dalaroo Metals is focused on gold and critical minerals exploration and development projects. Later in the month, the company entered into a binding agreement with Goldridge Resources to acquire an 80 percent interest in the Bondoukou gold project. On March 4, the company launched geological field mapping work at Bondoukou. Days later, high-grade gold assay results from reconnaissance rock chip sampling on the project were reported to have returned gold grades of up to 17.95 g/t gold. On March 18, Dalaroo announced that the field work revealed a “large structurally controlled gold corridor extending approximately 2.5 km in strike length and up to 400 m in width.”In early June, Dalaroo shared soil sampling results that identified a 4.3 kilometre long coherent gold anomaly and a peak soil assay of 2.19 g/t gold. Further soil sampling results released on June 15 extended the gold corridor at Bondoukou’s Gold Ridge target to about 7 kilometres, with a peak soil assay of 23.26 g/t gold. Results from the program were used to inform a maiden 102 hole, 12,000 metre drill program at the project in early September, starting with a 24 hole orientation phase across the Wilfred, Mag and Ali targets. The company announced the results for the first two holes from the program on October 7, with one hole returning 18 metres grading 7.31 g/t gold from 63 metres, including 12 metres grading 8.66 g/t gold, while the other returned 23 metres grading 2.14 g/t gold from surface. They were the first holes ever drilled along the Gold Ridge corridor.News of the discovery sent its shares skyward to a year-to-date high of AU$0.155 on October 7.Dalaroo followed up on October 9 saying it planned a five hole follow-up program around the discovery hole, with a diamond rig due to mobilise in mid-to-late October. Then, on October 12, it reported visual signs of alteration and quartz-sulphide veining in a hole about 1.25 kilometres northwest of the discovery. Assays from that hole are expected before the end of October, with results from seven more holes due beginning in early November. 4. Gwardar Resources (ASX:GRS) Year-to-date gain: 192.5 percentMarket cap: AU$19.31 millionShare price: AU$0.585Gwardar Resources is an exploration company advancing gold and copper projects in Western Australia. The Doolgunna property is located in the Murchison region and consists of four exploration licences covering a land package of 372 square kilometres.
