Researchers say LLMs can be good at natively reading and writing neural network weights; GPT-6 Astra edited Qwen3.5-0.8B's weights to make it better at math  —  TL;DR … If you were asked to handcraft a neural network that plays Go, what would you do?  If you were handed raw neural network weights …

Fossilised red blood cells found in 115m-year-old dinosaur’s bone, say scientists

Chemical tests on Aratasaurus bone identify presence of heme, the organic compound that allows haemoglobin in blood to carry oxygen around body

It could be the opening of a Jurassic Park rip-off: scientists examining ancient dinosaur bones find what appear to be fossilised red blood cells, and traces of the molecule that gives the beast’s blood its distinctive crimson hue.

But that is what researchers are claiming to have discovered after analysing the hind leg bones of a small, meat-eating dinosaur called an Aratasaurus that lived and died in what is now north-eastern Brazil 115m years ago.

Stars make oxygen for small galaxies, but they lose most of it

5 days 1 hour ago
Scientists examining data collected by NASA's Hubble Space Telescope have found that dozens of small galaxies contain far less oxygen than their stars are estimated to have produced. The researchers, including a Rutgers astrophysicist, studied 37 dwarf galaxies, which are much smaller than the Milky Way and considered to be nearby, within 22 million light-years of Earth. The results were published in The Astrophysical Journal.
