Forty percent of a CFO survey group representing the world's biggest corporations tell CNBC the coronavirus COVID-19 has caused a "major decrease" in demand from China.

The cancellations come as South Korea reports rapidly rising cases of the virus, which is believed to have originated in China before spreading globally.

Bed Bath & Beyond is cutting about 500 jobs, or 10% of its corporate workforce, as part of a larger restructuring plan in a bid to trim expenses, the retailer announced Thursday.
"A number of the larger companies have started to indicate that the signs that they're getting from the Chinese market is some of the production is coming back online," NRF CEO Matt Shay said.
