As of Monday evening, more than 42,700 cases of coronavirus have been reported, resulting in at least 1,011 deaths.

The WHO declared the virus a global health emergency last month, a rare designation that helps the international agency mobilize financial and political support to contain the outbreak.

"In short, we may only be seeing the tip of the iceberg," Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, director-general of the World Health Organization, said in a tweet on Sunday.

As of Monday night, the government said a total of 42,638 cases have been confirmed and 1,016 people have died in the country.
