The U.S. Federal Reserve on Sunday announced a suite of measures aimed at cushioning the U.S. economy from the virus outbreak, including lowering benchmark interest rates to zero.
Researchers from Johns Hopkins found that 97.5% of people infected with the new coronavirus will show symptoms within 12 days of catching the virus. That's in line with current CDC recommendations that call for patients to remain in isolation for 14 days after potential exposure.
"In the days and weeks ahead, we expect to see the number of cases, the number of deaths and the number of affected countries to climb even higher," WHO Director-General Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said Wednesday.
In Australia, shares recovered from earlier losses and rebounded sharply, with the S&P/ASX 200 closing 4.42% higher at 5,539.30 — after falling more than 8% at one point during the session.
